In Search of a True Healer Series
This will be the first in a continuing series about healers I have found, both living and deceased who are the “real deal”.

I have heard of healers all my life, but always had that “yeah, right” attitude about them. Being raised a Southern Baptist, I just really couldn’t make myself believe a moral human could heal people like Jesus did. How dare someone try to emulate Jesus? But I guess when I got hit in the face with a tough health situation all my reason and arrogance went out the window.
Healers seem to be all over the news of late. A couple of years ago when Dr. Oz made the statement “I never go into surgery without a healer with me” and proceeded to introduce his Reiki Master who was in the audience, the door was slightly opened to a long forgotten form of medicine. Then in February 2011 Dr. Oz had healer, Dr. Ossam Nemeh, on his show along with indisputable proof that he truly does heal people. I would say the “cat is out of the bag” now and hopefully healing or “energy work” is going to get more mainstream exposure than ever before.
Over the last few years of spiritual work and study I have come to understand that a true healing has to come from within, and if you are going to be healed, you must first believe you will be healed. If I had gone to a healer before this became a truth in my soul, I wouldn’t have been healed. On top of the disappointment at not being healed I would have walked away even more cynical than before. Looking back on the way things played out, I now realize it would have been a waste of time and money to visit a healer too soon. And, that old saying “it comes to us when we are able to understand it” really worked for me in my healing journey.
I have also come to realize that a true healer has to be able to step aside and let the true healing power of the universe pass through him to the person he is assisting in the healing. In order to do this, one's ego must be set aside. Not many people have that capacity no matter who they are, so a person who is a “true healer” really has two blessed gifts—humility and the ability to heal.
I met my first “real live healer” at the Houston Edgar Cayce Center in the summer of 2010. He was a very unassuming man with a soft voice who visited the center periodically. Although I had heard about him for some time our schedules had never been compatible and I wanted to see him speak before I scheduled a session.
He has quite a following, especially among football fans at the center because he had been involved with several professional athletes during his career. Unbeknownst to me, Dr. Shaye has been a body builder most of his life, and he seems to shine when helping athletes with injuries and building stamina. Several years ago he worked quite a bit with the Green Bay Packers and Coach Barry Rubin, who is now with the Philadelphia Eagles.
At last my schedule allowed me to attend one of Dr. Shaye’s presentations at the Houston Edgar Cayce Center. The Saturday talk was followed by private healing sessions with Dr. Shaye the next week. I was thrilled when a friend of mine that reads auras decided she was going as well. I thought she could give me a heads-up about whether he really was worth my time.
My friend arrived a little late and had to sit behind me. During the presentation, I glanced back at her several times and each time saw her mouth open with a look of complete shock on her face. She is hyper-sensitive to all types of energies, so I didn’t know what was going on.
When the presentation was over my friend—not the shy type—arranged for us to go to dinner with Dr. Shaye. My first thought was that he was at least approachable if he would go to dinner with two perfect strangers.
I finally got my friend off to the side and asked what was going on with her during Dr. Shaye’s presentation. She was basically in awe of the magnitude and brilliance of Dr. Shaye’s aura. When I asked her to explain she said his aura completely filled the auditorium where the presentation took place—it seats 100 people comfortably. The aura information coupled with his approachability gave me the assurance I needed to set up an appointment with him the following week for a healing.
At dinner he was very forthcoming about his background. His humbleness about his gift of healing and having an ego in alignment with his purpose were refreshing—to say the least—in comparison with some egos I have encountered in my journey.

In Part II I will relate more about Dr. Shaye’s background, my healing experience with him, and also share results of my personal interviews with people who have had a session with Dr. Saul Shaye.
