Introduction to Astrology @ Work Column

by Don Squibb

One of life’s biggest challenges is just getting along, and tolerance is a key in that effort. In this new column, we will try to help you with that journey by looking into the various zodiac signs from the context of learning the basics of each sun sign to help you better get along with people in not only the workplace but other aspects of your life.

If you pursue learning the general traits of each of the sun signs, it can have a major impact on your own life. You will likely meet everyone with more openness and have much less tendency to be judgmental because you recognize that each person must be true to themselves. Though your knowledge may have no relevance to them and what they are about, you can feel closer to people knowing they meet life’s challenges far differently than you might do if encountering similar challenges in your circumstances.

The sun is the most powerful of all the stellar bodies. As such, it puts its stamp on each individual who came into this world when the sun was in their astrological sign. It isn’t the only factor in analyzing human behavior and traits but it is an important one and can be used to your advantage throughout your life.

We are all unique for the most part but absent another more definitive discipline, astrology can give us a real understanding of human nature. It can give us great knowledge of another that would not be available otherwise. A natal horoscope constructed and interpreted may well give you a a good look into a person’s behavior and traits. In any case what you learn will give you more information about another person than you had beforehand.

As with anything in life astrology has its restrictions depending upon interpretation. It can be a bit more difficult to analyze someone born at the end of the the zodiac signs journey or at the beginning of it. For those born in the early or latter days of a sign, you can then be a blend of two major signs and have traits of each. Still patterns can be seen that will help you understand your approaches to life’s challenges.

By knowing the3 time of your birth and the location of that birth you can establish a precise map of the life’s energy patterns. In addition, other planets may well refine your personality and outlook. The two other most significant items in your “map” or horoscope are your ascendant and the moon sign. They may refine your personality trails, but do not change your fundamental orientation and delivery patterns.

If you have a horoscope prepared, you will find lots of information by the influences of the various houses in your chart of which there are 12. For example, I have Sagittarius in my house of partnerships. Sags love freedom and generally are slow to marry. I waited until the week of my twenty-eighth birthday to do so which was well after most of my friends had already made a trip to the altar.

In absence of a complete analysis, knowledge of the sun sign can still make us much more tolerant of each other. Cool poised parents who are Scorpios can give more space to their restless fidgeting child they can not control to the degree they desire. Maybe you will forgive Virgo for their pickiness over details when you realize they were born wanting to straighten every one’s pictures and untangle things by looking critically at every issue.

It is easier to bare at times the seeming carelessness of the Sagittarian when you understand they are too busy finding causes rather than look where they are going each minute. The frankness of the Sagittarian will cut less when you are aware of their compulsion to speak the truth no matter what the cost.

You won’t be as hurt when a Capricorn doesn’t “ooh and ah” over the gift you gave when you remember they are deeply grateful but most are incapable of showing much pleasure openly. Their insistence on duty will chafe less when you know each one will discipline themselves as severely as they do others.

Putting up with the endless Libra arguments or hesitations are more bearable when you realize they are trying to be fair. They seek harmony in whatever disputes, controversies, and challenges they face and reach an impartial decision that will bring harmony to their environment.

The Aquarian won’t seem so rude when they root into your private life if you simply remember they were created with an uncontrollable urge to investigate people’s motives. These are truth seekers no matter who they encounter and their rebellious nature at times is focused on brotherhood no matter what it may appear to be.

Once in a while you will come across a person with lots of planets in another when they were born. That will make the sun’s influence harder to ascertain but the disguise will not be sustainable if you watch closely. The true nature of the sun sign will emerge as it is the basic power source.

One of my earlier bosses in life was a Gemini trained as an engineer before a career in life insurance and banking. Very quiet in the office and seemingly not the typical witty conversationalist that is often the case with Gemini, he could talk non-stop to persuade them to buy financial services which reveal his need and readiness to communicate.

In learning to recognize sun signs you will learn something very serious and useful. It will enable you to recognize what some of these people’s dreams, secret hopes, and true approaches to life are. You can have a glimpse at their deepest needs and know them in ways that casual contacts might never reveal.

A caveat is important to mention here. Remember what you attract and see are really parts of yourself present in the form of others for the mind to see. What you discover may be some conduct in yourself that you had never noticed or truly embraced as part of yourself before. It can help you become more tolerant and allowing as you explore the world around you.

Now let’s take a look at Aries, the first sun sign of the zodiac which is depicted as a Ram. Just click here.
