TAURUS — The Bull

 (Born April 21 through May 21)

     Security is the central need of the natives of Taurus. That to them comes mostly in material forms. They are builders to the core, and will be miserable unless they sense they are producing something somehow. They are determined to gain the feeling they are controlling a means which will lead to the attainment of wealth. Preparing for unforeseen needs at present is natural for them, but they do it for the enjoyment of having the resources rather than for bragging rights and self promotion.

     The Taurus individual has the supreme virtue of patience for somehow each knows instinctively that “Rome was not built in a day.” Most are usually relaxed and easy to be around because of their calmness. Their steadfast ways draw others to those who sense their firm sense of direction. Often they do not necessarily project “being on top of things,”—but they are! In fact they are determined to be so, and will push away obstacles and wear down opposition to get what they want. They generally speak little and when they do, it is done in a deliberate manner.

     Each is basically like a tortoise that through plodding along beat the hare in the famous race described in the ancient Aesop fable. Rushing about is not their way. Many do not readily see that approach in themselves thinking that they just have to be plugging away to get anything of consequence done. They are masters of perseverance and are always firm. With those qualities they are very loyal and trustworthy friends. Friends admire them and enjoy their company.

     Taureans are creatures of habit to a fault and relentlessly on a path they have decided to pursue. If they make up their minds about something, chances are no one can persuade them to change it. They prefer to be left alone running their respective lives as they please. Be forewarned though that these bulls have a violent temper which when triggered will demolish all in front of them. Fortunately that is not often for it takes a lot to make them mad. They do have remarkable, inherent strength whether male or female. They also have the ability to bear many burdens without complaining and gather strength in the process of living through those burdens.
 
     The bull does not charge or run, unless mad, and they have very little tolerance for those who do. The Taurean observer has witnessed waste as a result of haste. You have to watch over things carefully reviewing as you go in order to accumulate. The bull gets it “in gear” at their own pace which often hardly seems interesting to others. Being cautious is a natural, practical approach for achieving what they individually determine is their goal. By the same token, these people are in many ways adverse to change though most need to be more open to it and the opportunities it will introduce in their lives

     The Taurus has deep personal pride which is interwoven into their activities. They always need to know they are making a real difference by their individual efforts of keeping their accomplishments to their own standards. Hugs are deeply appreciated regardless of their respective ages.

     Taureans are generally NOT boastful or flaunting of themselves even though they do talk about money a lot. That is just a snapshot of what is going on in their minds most of the time. They usually have very warm hearts and will be available to support those in real need while being quite generous to those they truly love. Even though one of their main goals is to accumulate, they are not stingy.

     Note, however, that their unannounced goal and secondary pleasure is obtaining considerable comfort—another reason to seek more money all the time. When satisfied their endeavors are safe and producing steadily, they will spend to make themselves as comfortable as they can. Their orientation toward comfort, experiencing fine music and having beautiful possessions can be seen as a contradiction to their expressed intent to accumulate as expressed by their discussions of money, costs of things, good deals, and opportunities to make money all the time. In fact, they can become very materialist. Small mindedness can take over all the good in their makeup if they become worshipers of money.


The bull does like to be in the greenest most lush pasture to be fed and the opportunity to be with all the cows in the herd by pacing himself.
   
     HOW TO SUPPORT A TAURUS: Recognize what the Taurean has produced whether tangible or not and compliment them on the success of their efforts. They deeply want to know they are making a difference in their lives by their efforts. Positive feedback on their achievements will be deeply appreciated and encouraging to them.

     These are “process” people who want to find others who work that way or appear to them to do so. They view individuals who aren’t that way with horror at their recklessness and as “a bull in the china shop” that leaves behind nothing but damage. These are practical methodical people at the core no matter how or where they express themselves.

     Happiness generally requires a savings account or some sort of similar accumulation vehicle that grows both by earnings and additional contributions without further effort on their part. Even while sleeping they want to know their money is working for them though they may know it will only be available to them in the distant future. As long as they know something is being produced—whether they are regularly involved or not—provides them contentment. It is difficult therefore for many female Taureans who are homemakers to feel deep satisfaction with life because they generally have no control over any tangible assets that are increasing in value.

     TIP FOR WORKING WITH A TAURUS: Slow down a bit as you talk to your Taurean associates and friends. Respect their need for the process. Speak clearly in terms of building greater well being. Remember they can be amazingly stubborn, resistant to change, and unresponsive to your reasoning. Also, they do little without thinking about a change, and if their minds are already made up, forget about having any impact. They do not trust others easily, and will be suspicious at times of motives and character. Advising them can have uneven results depending on the person and whether they are comfortable enough in their own process of production of wealth to be open enough to hear you.

     HEALTH MATTERS FOR A TAURUS: Stress is repeatedly in a Taurus’ process as they secure their wealth, so they need to incorporate physical motion in their lives for balance. Going to a gym generally doesn’t have much appeal when relaxing as “a couch potato” produces such good feelings for them. The huge pay off for the Taurus is that it keeps a person active in the game of life for accumulating. Warn them that they can avoid major losses from huge medical bills by focusing on a health lifestyle filled with exercise, good food and living well daily. Besides they are aware of their remarkable inherent strength though it is not readily presented in their lives.

     Taureans are great assets to humanity especially when most people around them are in a state of “losing their heads” over challenging circumstances being encountered. All builders at times have to rebuild and know it to be so and enduring is just part of life while moving forward. They can manage pick up the fragments of a mess and manage to put them together in a better way than before. They demonstrate by their process and actions that perseverance has many rewards. They are so naturally at ease and practical as they introduce both order and then comfort in many situations that they are greatly appreciated by those who have experienced them in their midst.
