Many years ago while engaged in formal metaphysical studies, I overheard some older students talking about the upcoming Wesak full moon. I asked my teacher what they were talking about, and was told that Wesak is the most holy time of the year, when all beings incarned and in spirit, who are interested in the spiritual development of humanity, turn their attention to the Earth. I was told to direct my attention to the geographical location of Tibet in my meditations, and perhaps to enlist the aid of my Guide to help me experience the energies of Wesak.
In my studies I had recently been encouraged to develop a relationship with my Spirit Guide. I was not sure that I wanted a relationship with a Guide, nor was I especially interested in traveling to whatever realms this Guide might take me. I had resisted doing the assigned exercises that would enable me to meet and begin to work consciously with my Guide.
During this course of study about Guides, I experienced an unusual dream:
I was climbing a wooden staircase covered with carpet in a magnificent old Victorian home. When I got to the top of the stairs, there was a large landing that held in one corner a great stone fireplace. A woman in a floor-length dress and apron was stirring a large pot of stew hanging over the fire in the fireplace.
As I walked past the woman and the fireplace, she did not speak, but held my gaze until I tore my attention away from her and entered an adjacent study with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves holding hundreds of books.
When I sat down in my meditation room to focus my attention on Wesak, I cast about in my mind trying to recall any further instructions about “attending Wesak.” I came up empty, but recalled the strange dream with the woman cooking at the fireplace on the staircase landing. This woman and the fireplace seemed to have nothing to do with the rest of the dream, and I wondered if perhaps she could be this Guide I was supposed to meet in my dreams and develop a relationship with.
Since I had little else to work with, I dropped into meditation and recalled the part of the dream about the woman at the fireplace on the staircase landing. This time the scene was slightly different, as the stone fireplace had no fire in it, and it had been swept clean of all of the ashes. The cooking pot was also missing.
As I ascended the last few stairs to the landing, the woman again locked onto my eyes with her gaze, and did not speak. I felt uncomfortable and said aloud that I would call her “Elena,” if that was okay with her. She simply nodded her head. I told her I did not know if she was my Guide or not, but that I needed assistance to align my consciousness with the energies of Wesak, and asked if she could help me. She again nodded, and never speaking a word, raised her arm in a gesture, inviting me to follow her.
She gripped her long skirts in her hands and raised them off the floor. Then she stepped up onto the hearth of the fireplace. Elena ducked her head and stepped into the firebox of the fireplace, glancing over her shoulder to determine that I was following her. As I stepped up onto the hearth, I saw Elena disappear into the back stone wall of the fireplace. I took several more steps inside the fireplace, following her.
Suddenly, I found myself passing through the stone wall of the fireplace and stepping out into a field of vibrant green grass and yellow flowers. It seemed to be just past sundown, with the light fading quickly from the sky. I looked around me and saw nothing but this grassy field. Elena was nowhere to be seen.
Not sure what I was supposed to do next, I slowly scanned the horizon from west to east. Once my attention was fully directed in an easterly direction, I realized that night had descended, the black sky glittering with stars, and I seemed to be overlooking a large valley.
Across the valley, I could see high, snow-capped mountains and a winding dirt road carved into the side of the mountain. I noticed some bobbing lights moving along this treacherous stretch of road. As I focused my attention on that scene, I noticed that there were several people and pack animals traveling in single file, their way lit by the burning torches they carried. I wondered why these people were traveling this perilous trail at night by torchlight. I was vaguely aware that my body felt no sensation of cold as I watched this scene unfold in the night at this high elevation. And there the vision ended, leaving me with more questions, and no answers.
I deduced that if this meditative vision was truly related to Wesak, that this must be the Tibetan Valley in the Himalayas mentioned by my teacher. I also realized that whoever Elena was, she had been instrumental in guiding me into this vision. For the rest of the weekend in my meditations I called again on Elena, and tried to recreate the vision, to no avail. I assumed at my novice level of spiritual development that this was as close as I would get to “attending” Wesak that year.
During the week of Wesak 2011, I opened my Akashic Records and asked to explore that initial Wesak vision in more detail. I was able to revisit the grassy hill with the yellow flowers, and again, saw the high mountain road across a wide valley. I asked why I had been shown the travelers in the previous vision, and received a “felt sense” of knowing that I was one of those travelers in a previous lifetime. I was a young man responsible for the pack animals and handling the baggage of the spiritual leader of my clan.
I asked that the Records reveal to me the purpose of this dangerous journey, and I was told that this was a pilgrimage taken in early spring by religious and spiritual leaders and their initiates and acolytes. This meeting brought together the spiritual leaders of various tribes and clans. These were shamans, priests, monks, ascetics, people who had devoted their lives to serving their various gods.
These men lived solitary lives, set apart from the other members of their clans and tribes. These annual meetings with others of their ilk provided companionship with like-minded initiates and adepts. Group meditations and shamanic journeys in the rarefied air of this high mountain valley expanded each man’s consciousness even further. Long conversations around a roaring fire in the wee hours of the morning allowed sharing of ideas, insights, and visions. Spiritual friendships were built and renewed that would be continued telepathically or via astral projection once these solitary spiritual leaders returned to their respective peoples.
The high point of this annual event was the ceremony at the height of the full moon, with the transmission of energies from the Buddha, the Christ, and other spiritual teachers from many dimensions. This communion of spiritual elite was truly the coming together of Heaven and Earth.
Many of these spiritual leaders realized that they were transformers, receiving the energies transmitted by the Buddha, the Christ, and other great teachers, and they understood that they held the responsibility of disseminating these energies to their own peoples. They were infused with overwhelming love and guidance, some falling into ecstatic trance during the transmission of these high-powered energies. Others would be filled with a deep sense of joy and peace, exempt for a time from the sufferings, worries, and sorrows of the human life.
These leaders would spend several days together in this valley after the Wesak celebration in order to assimilate and integrate the energies of the transmission. Then they would each return to their own people, intent on leading their tribes and clans in a truer Path, more closely aligned with the Divine, the Great Father/Mother God, the All That Is.
I asked the Masters to show me how these Wesak energies are relevant to humanity in the 21st century.
I was told that few people understand these Divine energies of Unconditional Love and Wisdom are always present, and one needs only to acknowledge this Presence and open the heart to access these energies.
Because the Source of All is embodied by every human soul, we are always One with the Source, there is no separation. We need only move our conscious attention from concerns with the material world to look inward. We can then align our hearts consciously and deliberately with that Light perpetually transmitted from the inner realms and received through our chakra systems, illuminating each chakra in our bodies.
As we are willing to surrender more fully to this Divine Love, the lower chakras will be stimulated by this higher vibrational energy. Living our mundane, physical lives with open hearts allows this Grace to flow through our beings into the lives of those around us. Our bodies are truly the interface between Heaven and Earth, and we will transform the consciousness of humanity by allowing this Divine energy to flow through us as we walk our paths in this world.
