Astrology @ Work — Libra, The Scales

     Souls who enter the earth when the harvest is near completion arrive during a time of calm as the land lies at rest having produced the crop for the year. People are relaxed, too, as they begin to enjoy the fruits of all their toil. The weather after the equinox is often some of the loveliest of they year. Not only are the days and nights about the same length but the summer temperature extremes are beginning to level off. The glorious colors of fall appear with such vitality that people are warmed by nature’s beautiful painting and they seek to be immersed in it. A very satisfying feeling is usually present and a sense often of mellowness. Surely there is still work to be done. That however is accomplished in a more relaxed way than when the crop was still in the field and subject to being lost if not gathered and stored.

     This tranquil setting is the background for Libras who have equability and equanimity as strong components of themselves regardless of gender, race, or age. They desire peace and harmony in their existence like the restfulness of the season when they arrived. Many who encounter Libras appear to feel better after being around these people. They are very social beings, and will listen to others intently to understand another’s point of view no matter how extreme it might be. If a Libra is functioning as a manager he or she will seek the opinions of all involved.

     Libras find it hard to function without the reference points of others and their experiences on virtually any matter before doing something themselves. Libras decide who they are by processing what they have learned from their families, personal friends and friends in the workplace. They are even hungry to know whether they could ever begin to embrace personally what they are hearing. Their gift to others is respect and recognition which can be quieting to someone anxious or enraged for some reason.

     Libras are very sensitive people by their natures and often comprehend the emotional needs of others even when not apparent. Libras are very determined to see that things can be worked out which often leaves others feeling better.

      The Libras by natures is very sympathetic to those around them who are experiencing pain and suffering. Because of this Libras can often bring a feeling of peace to others.  Meeting most anyone in extreme discomfort in any form will trigger concern in these natural peacemakers who might be just observers.

     They are very perceptive seeing with compassion and wishing for balance and calmness to be available to all others. Libras are always concerned that justice be done and fairness prevail in life. Resulting in many who pursue vocations and participate in situations that allow them to manage various kinds of environments.

     The ruling planet for Libra is Venus. Its influence is much more social than sensual which might be initially assumed. When considering the symbol for this sun sign, note it is the only one of the twelve Zodiac signs that is an inanimate object. There is an assumption by many that the scales are being held by a human hand yet it is generally not displayed, but however the sign is presented, the scales truly represents the nature of Libras.

     All are measuring, weighing and balancing in wherever they might find themselves involved. They always look at all sides of an issue or question as they move toward understanding it and perhaps eventually making a personal decision regarding it. To others, such conduct rarely seems to bring much by way of resolutions since they do not observe the circumstances like a Libra.

     If a Libra is criticized for how he or she is proceeding, they are often offended. At their deepest levels they feel they are doing the necessary thinking in order to make the best decision. To be ridiculed or called into question about their approach and methodology is disconcerting and unreasonable to them.

     If denied the opportunity to move at their own pace, a Libra can become quite miserable. Without necessarily justifying their process, the Libra feels deep inside that such conduct is absolutely necessary to be impartial in order to resolve any issue.

     Libras are some of the deepest thinkers around. Ironically though they will not tolerate opposition to their conclusion once they finally come to one for they have come to a point where it appears to them very self evident. That can come as a great surprise when one sees them as always patient, reasonable people.

     A very frequent description of a Libra—whether male or female—is the word charming. They are known for being very gentle and kind. Almost exuding sweetness they can steadily pursue what they see as what must be done. They are exceptional at getting along with people because they listen to everyone in order to be sure that all around them are heard. To them practicing the principle of fairness is paramount to their core.

     Though social and friendly, they can be quite aggressive in protecting themselves when going after what they really want to succeed. Underneath most harbor the desire for status and prestige. Their relaxed and subtle methodology has the power to influence many before they even understand the Libras objectives. They make their moves utilizing logic in their persuasions of others and the environment.

     With their thorough assessments of any situation, they are rarely deceived and can be a formidable force as they move forward implementing their strategies. They can be smug while exhibiting their famous appealing smiles.

     Libras are more sensitive than might be initially noticed. If their surroundings are not harmonious, they are impacted and at times seriously when others would simple ignore the situation at hand. They recoil from conditions that seem to them dirty, rough and even ugly. Extreme competition, discord, and continuing unpleasant associations can introduce great stress for a Libra even if they are highly qualified for the endeavor.

     The prospect of having little or no harmony around them is very depressing. Inevitably they will have studied their surroundings and could possibly impact the situation to improve it. But many are not enterprising enough to put their stamp on the troubling situations. When they do act, they are inclined to function only as a manager if given the go ahead.

     Libra does not make who initiate dramatic change. Libras can be basically very conventional and even timid at times while appearing easy going. They may not show anger even when it is appropriate as a response. People who want boldness of action from a Libra are often frustrated because they seem to take forever to come to a decision. Such observers will quickly come to the conclusion that a Libra is truly indecisive.
 
     All have a sense of beauty and elegance about their surroundings. This comes out of their need for harmony which comes when the scales are in balance. They will be quick to redecorate areas they inhabit to bring beauty to their environment as much as possible. Their homes even if modest usually display good taste and a degree of elegance.

     The conditions and experiences of life can bring much unhappiness to all but particularly to Libras who can long to escape from many worldly challenges and conditions. Vulgarity drives them away if they can find a way to withdraw and torments them if they have to absorb it regularly. People who are rude and uncouth repel Libras when in situations where out of necessity such traits must be experienced regularly.

     In describing the character of the Libra, equilibrium comes to mind. Others notice their efforts to keep peace and balance in their environments. Most have an inherent ability and need to settle disagreements, and smooth out discords to enhance relationships. They make natural diplomats with their careful, analytical and temperate natures that desire harmony.

     Being charming attracts others, and the Libra will work to be friendly and attractive to people. It is important to know that Libras have a critical need to be around others regularly in order to gain self understanding. They also have a deep unspoken fear of being alone for any length of time. Working or existing in situations that are solitary in nature have almost no appeal and can be very depressing to these generally outgoing people who want to stay connected to the activities of society.

     Frantic vacations attempting to see and do everything possible at a destination are not their way. Libras will pity those who attempt renewal in that manner. They like to relax with others whether they are new people or already good friends. Beautiful scenery is stimulating to them, but dropping out completely in even a wonderful place to relax is rarely enough to be a great holiday for most of them.

     Renewal for a Libra usually comes by being with others for most all are extroverts. Deep inside these gentle folks want to immerse themselves in society not be disconnected from it.

     Most Libras have an identity crisis but seek to learn who they are through what others do, say and think. That desire is both a starting and dwelling place in their searching. By reviewing what others feel, know, and have experienced it will leave the Libra feeling devoid somehow of information about themselves. Self audits are neglected or postponed forever. Therefore, few have much clarity about their own deepest drives, thoughts, and values since for most do not look inward for insight.

     The minds of Libras are naturally more artistic than intellectual even though brilliance is often present since they have gathered so much information with their active minds. The arts are very appealing to them whether they are creating them or not for such can be a source of harmony in many forms. They seek beauty almost unconsciously and seek to surround themselves with it.

     Many are drawn to music as their most preferred art form whether performing or listening probably because it can change the mood of an environment dramatically and quickly. They frequently have a fine ear, and often exhibit a talent for dance as they can hear rhythms and respond to them with grace. Poetry can be moving to them as well as words of songs.

     There is a great tendency in these people be a sampler and dabbler in creative pursuits. This can happen to the degree that they have no particular focus. Rarely do they have the nature to push the current scene to “the edge” in most in any art form. Notwithstanding this, some have become some of the great artists because of their strong desire for beauty and elegance.

     Be careful you do not expect a Libra to always be calm, sweet and gracious for their attitudes and emotions will always be in motion swinging up and down like the scales that are their symbol. Only at times are they truly in balance, and that may not be a continuing state for long. Often they are confused, depressed, restless, stubborn, and even annoying.

     Remember they do come into balance once in a while and display all the wonderful attributes of that emotional state. But life has a way of tipping the scales regularly so they are in a state of trying constantly to balance things. Still with all this varied conduct Libras are known for their broad smiles and frequent merry laughter.

     With the perpetual search for harmony, they can be surprisingly indulgent with food, drink and other excesses. Also, being such natural peacemakers they can surprise others by taking a strong position on something even to the point of starting an argument about it.

     Their work efforts offer extremes in contrast and they have no problem with working long hours. Then they will do virtually nothing for a while appearing lazy, detached and unfocused. In fact no other Zodiac sign can demonstrate relaxation like a Libra can when such is their state. Once the Libra feels renewed they go back to work and the cycle begins again. If laziness sets in it can be their total undoing often necessitating a considerable amount of outside encouragement to get one of them involved again.

     Somehow they sense what it takes physically to stay in balance. However, they generally do not manage their emotions as well and extremes in them can be unsettling. These are emotionally fragile people regardless of their physical strength and capacities. After all the scales have to find absolute balance every time they are used.

     Venus’ influence is apparent as Libras are usually good looking and women are often striking, even beautiful. All dress carefully using considerable discrimination in selecting the components of their wardrobes. Though they can become somewhat vain, such grows out of a desire to make a good impression and be distinctive visually. The female Libra is prone to using their good looks as a means to get what she wants. Both men and women Libras can be flirtatious and at times to an excess. Their inclination to manipulate can then be easily observed.

HOW TO SUPPORT A LIBRA: Speak to them in gentle terms and mostly make suggestions about what you desire from them. They are usually repelled by direct and immediate orders. Directions for virtually everything must be considered carefully before such are embraced and perhaps followed. Fairness will be an issue even if is not mentioned by them.

     Review any issue with them as you can by profiling the various possibilities involved in the matter. That will help avoid the Libra feeling the need to explore to make sure the matter has been thoroughly evaluated, particularly if there is an urgency present to move forward in a new direction.

     Enjoy and utilize their inherent ability to bring harmony to your surroundings if you can. You may indeed enhance those around them by doing so. To lift their spirits provide tickets to art museums, classical music concerts, musical theatre productions and dinners at elegant restaurants which can be powerful infusions of beauty for them. They delight in receiving beautiful things to wear or display in their homes if you are looking for a gift for them.

TIPS ON WORKING WITH A LIBRA: Remember they are much more sensitive than it appear. If you are boisterous, it is likely very disturbing to them unless it is in a context where it is expected such as at sporting events, rock concerts, and noisy restaurants. Shouting and dramatic scenes full of tension will probably cause them to withdraw. Keep them out of the places where there may be offensive or violent conduct.

     Create a tranquil work or social environment setting for your Libra associates. Pay attention to decorating the area in such a way that it has color harmony and reflects comfort which is a way of imaging peace. Otherwise there can be aesthetic reactions that can impair the Libra’s functioning.

     Help Libras be in situations where they don’t have to rush to make decisions. They must even think about sock or stocking to put on first as they dress. Be patient with their thought processes and pace which are most often a stark contrast to what your ways are and how they perform.

HEALTH MATTERS FOR A LIBRA: These people often live long lives and are generally healthier than many of their peers. Their practice of being careful and basic instinct for moderation has enormous benefits when talking about longevity. The peace they seek and promote almost unconsciously along with the love of others generally make for a solid foundation emotionally and physically for all that life delivers in challenges.

     Rarely will you hear a lot of complaining from a Libra for they see such conduct drags others down if there is much of it. Nonetheless, they delight in having people around taking care of them when ill which is once again an illustration of their strong need to connect. They can be thrown out of balance when illness or injury strikes because they then can not function normally and they will no longer be their sunny selves.

     The biggest problem in matters of health is their tendency to over indulge. Alcohol, sweets and other abuses to their digestive systems are the usual culprits. Once they recognize their destructive tendencies and withdraw from them they can restore their balances. However, their rest periods have an intensity about them compared to others for Libras literally drop out and do almost nothing until they feel good.

     In health maintenance matters they can be very difficult to serve. Most dislike seeing doctors but when they do the Libra will compare themselves in terms of actions, experiences, and values of others they are close to.

     Laboratory tests will reveal data but information on emotions and reactions which is so important in an overall analysis will likely not be forthcoming. Introspection is simply not part of their nature as they spend most of their time seeking knowledge elsewhere. Therefore, treating Libras successfully in depth is very difficult.

     Libras most often do not have the opportunity to ponder the discoveries and subsequent recommendations made by a physician or other health consultant before such are presented formally. Therefore], there will be no ready acceptance of the conclusions supplied the Libra as a patient. Since their response pattern is to gather input from others about any issue concerning them, they feel compelled to check out the matter. Most though do not have anyone in their network of family and friends with medical expertise. With no one to talk over what has been supplied, the Libra patient will often call repeatedly to hear the conclusions again that he or she has already been provided.

     This conduct usually becomes increasingly annoying and frustrating to the attempted provider during the Libra’s follow up contacts. As patients they have a response that is sort of an informal debate. The Libra will likely even endeavor to make the medical consultant wrong since there is no personal attachment to the scientific information and recommendations that have been presented. This will probably be the response even when hearing from a recognized expert on dealing with the particular health challenge.

     The need to escape usually becomes present in the Libra from encounters with medical professionals often turning these gracious people into extremely difficult patients. Some choose alcohol as an escape from those feelings. Strangely an induced feeling of detachment can seem like a place of safety to the Libra being denied his or her regular pattern of operating in life.

     Libras are often found in the role of diplomat, manager, or in some judicial capacity whether in the formal legal profession or not. Making decisions is their long suit. Consistently most attempt to bring serenity to the world. They generally excel in working with people, seeing to it that all relationships function in an atmosphere of fairness, and endeavoring to be sure that a sense of justice prevails in their environments. These renowned peace seekers and keepers are key players in the evolution of society with all of its tumult and turmoil. They are both admired and loved by many.

     They are ambassadors of beauty and harmony for its contributions to the soul. Action is not preferred by them over the state of being. They show respect for all humanity and have empathy with all. Those attitudes are a way to peace, and they demonstrate it comes first within. A Libra somehow knows deep inside that harmony is the way to build great civilizations, and they want to help develop that pathway as well as live within it.
