Why Is Healing Farms Important?

by Peggy Sue Skipper

A couple of editions back I wrote an article on the importance of community and how The New Era Times wanted to be a resource for the emerging global communities on the topics we are covering. We must be heading in the right direction on that score because The Universe has worked its magic and we are connecting with amazing people from around the world!

One glowing example is Healing Farms, a nonprofit organization, founded by Andre Beaudoin in the greater Little Rock area. This is a great story. Andre is one of the youngest living victims of polio in the United States and he is now past his first half century mark. Raised by parents who always encouraged him to look at things that were difficult as a challenge versus an obstacle that he “just hasn’t figured out yet,” Andre took that approach with life and any limitations he came in contact with.

When he reached a time where his pain was becoming intolerable and he was not comfortable with another recommended surgery Andre began to look for other answers. And, he found them with what was then referred to as “alternative” health and wellness practices. These alternative approaches included the physical, mental, emotional and energetic aspects of healing such as Rolfing, Inner Focus and deep relaxation techniques.

The therapies actually not only helped him to be more comfortable they also increased his awareness about the benefits of whole body healing and wellness. His personal experiences also made it clear that finding these types of practitioners was not easy—and in his opinion it should be. His natural problem-solving approach took over and he founded a nonprofit organization, Healing Farms, to address the issue. The formal organization was created in 2007 and this year on September 24th and 25th they will be hosting their 4th Annual Gathering in Little Rock, Arkansas. This event is their major awareness and fundraising event of the year. To find out more about this event or the Healing Farms organization visit their website.

Some powerful people will be available at this year’s event including: Dr. AlixSandra Parness, Starr Fuentes, Rev. Ellen Louise Barner, Zabe Barnes, Suzanne Day, Laurel Mannet, Sandy Jones-McClintic, Cindy Shultz and more. Attendees will have access to vendor booths and lectures throughout the course of the event.

Andre is not only a problem solver he is a big picture person—a visionary—and he sees the Little Rock organization as just a beginning. There are already plans afoot to take the Healing Farms concept into other communities. Their vision of a global society, free of disease and disharmony, dedicated to the expression of love in all its forms certainly gets my vote!

Andre’s community and ours at The New Era Times are a natural pairing because our goal is to partner with organizations like Healing Farms that are locally strong and want to be globally connected.

Just hearing Andre’s story was such and inspiration that Rita and I are heading up to Little Rock to check it out and meet him and the other Healing Farms members in October 2010—I will have details on this in a later article.

And on another note, in the same music for the soul vein, my previous article about the United Nation’s International Day of Peace has sewn some great seeds! The Edgar Cayce Center here in Houston will be hosting a FREE Peace Meditation on the big day—September 21, 2010 from 7-8pm. We just got word that international recording artist Jim Commander will be playing live for the event! If you have heard Jim’s CD Edgar Cayce Sounds for Meditation you know this will be a real treat. Mark your calendars and BE THERE!

And lastly, my trip to visit the Bosnia Pyramids is happening right now. Take off was Friday, September 3rd so don’t forget to check up on us from time to time through The New Era Times blog

     That’s all for this go-round.

Peace to You, Peggy Sue Skipper
