Mayan Astrology* is based on the Tzokin, the Sacred Mayan Calendar, a cycle of 260 days. The Tzolkin and the Gregorian Calendar meet in the same day every 18,980 days (or 52 years). It has been traditionally utilized for rituals and divinatory practices and it is used on most continents today.
*Note: Although ‘Mayan Astrology’ is a commonly used term, technically it is incorrect, as Astrology refers to the map of the sky at the moment/place we were born and the Mayan Oracle is on a galactic level, independently of our planet’s physical position. In both cases, it relates to how higher energies influence life on Earth; the traditional Astrology studies the position and movement of celestial bodies, while the Mayan calendrical divination is related to cosmic energies in a perpetual cycle.
